Being a professional in a big company can seem such a stressful journey through humdrum. But Love reaches all corners and cubicles. It is up to you to recognize it and seize the amazing opportunity of working for Love, with Love and because of Love.

You’re hired!

August 10th, 2010

Yesterday a friend of mine came to the office for a job interview. He was seeking for something related to communications and people, so when a spot like that opened in Human Resources, I called him and asked for his resume.

Finally after struggling with traffic and a missing wallet (his), he arrived on time to the interview looking really sharp in his suit.

After a while he called to say the interview was over and that he wasn’t very sure how it went.

First, he had to answer some questions in English, that made him a little nervous and sweaty, and then he had to take some tests and leave the building hoping for the second call to ring him in such a big company.

I must confess that, although my interview, almost 4 years ago, was very similar, I had in my mind a whole different process.

In my dreamy head, the best job interview would be a mix between an improvisation class and a Broadway musical, swirling the hills alive with a singing Q&A. Karaoke works well for me too.

Maybe there would be a Mario Kart challenge on the imaginary Wii console. After winning that, and the singing contest, and the spelling bee contest (hey! it can’t all be party and games), there would come the tests; just some math to show that I can sum and rest and divide and multiply. In my exams there would be no freaky questions about a train A leaving the station at whatever hour, while a train B leaves another station across town.

Then, of course there would be a psychological exam, which would show I’m completely crazy and perfect for the job. The band would  march down the hall with the trombone and cymbals creating the festive rhythm to celebrate the “You’re hired” victory cry.

Make my resume look nicer with your thoughts on the perfect job interview.
