Dear God/ess, I am thinking of beauty today, for nothing is as beautiful as the moment at hand, barking dogs, flowing water, the brown mud of a January thaw.

Yet some of the people who go to the movie Avatar suffer from what I call Post Pandora Depression Syndrome. The movie is so exquisitely beautiful that people are struck by the contrast to their own lives. Certainly, Avatar is the most beautiful movie ever made. By comparison, perhaps, life is drab, relationships continue with vibrations of bitterness and resentments, and knee jerking, button pushing responses.

Angelic Presence has something else in mind. The fact that a human being could create something as drop dead gorgeous as the movie Avatar is a miracle of human potential.

The beauty of life is in the eye of the beholder. Beauty is a choice. It is an attitude. We can see it in everything or miss it by worry, anxiety, too much thinking, too many details thereby losing a sense of the Overall Design. We may forget that God/ess is in everything, which in and of itself, is beautiful.

Beauty is revealed in a simple prayer, a chant, a song or mindful step, with a loving dog bounding past giving the gift of a side-long glance of mirth and joy.

You are also beautiful.

And so am I.
